Located in North Western Turkey, Istanbul's weather is more European than Asian and can be considered as mild Mediterranean climate.

Although the temperature in September is about 20° Celcius on average, there is always the chance of rain. Bear in mind also that due to the seaside location of the city, humidity is generally high and especially in the evenings, the perceived temperatures can be considerably lower. Light clothing with rain gear or an umbrella will be suitable during September.
